Cherry Blossoms

I posted earlier this week that we went to see the Cherry Blossoms and that I would post later about them. That time has come. We went to the Jefferson Memorial early Monday morning so we could find an accessible parking spot. We were right on the money and got the first spot of the day. It was a gray day and it was raining lightly. That just meant wearing a couple more layers. It was still a beautiful sight. I took about a kazillion photos. Actually about 450. This sneaked picture Bill took of me shows my enjoyment. (I hate, hate, hate having my picture taken.)

We parked at the Jefferson Memorial but did not visit like last year. Instead we started a quiet walk about the basin early. Here are some pictures showing just a sampling of what we saw on Monday. I will post more in a couple of days. I have to get through all of those pictures.

Among the first blossoms we saw, they are still incredibly beautiful on a gray, rainy day.

Looking across the Tidal Basin.

Washington Monument casting strength in the gray of the day.

Beautiful, beautiful blossoms. They make one want to sing in the rain.

You know, I don't think that I've ever seen the blossoms on a gray day. I think I like them more than on a sunny day. Quite beautiful.
